Fuck. why?
What is the brain?
A wrinkly, roughly 3-lb congealed mass of lipids (read: fat)?
Or a cosmic work of art? An accident of entropy? A vessel for divine hands; A translator between physics and metaphysics; An artifact of the holy abstract…?
Or just a pile of C, H, O, N, P, S, Cl, Na, K, Ca, Mg…? (Is human life a C-O-N? Or are we C-H-O-S-N?)
Shall I ask _c_hemistry or _G_od?
If I am so quick to accept the retort that I am no more than a ‘biological neural net’, then I now must mourn the mystery of humanity and accept that we are nothing more than lossy computers bickering amongst fellow flawed machinery. Pre-programmed, programmed, and re-programmed fats with fleeting ideas of life:death or no ideas at all.
But what penalty if I were incorrect? Either intentionally or through ignorance? If being ‘worth it’ is worthless, then what good is feeling correct?
God don’t play dice games… but does God play games at all? What role does chance play when the stakes have no comparison?
Whether by omniscient accident, or cosmic argument we know of ‘life’, however truly real and fleeting or fake and everlasting. Nevertheless, I acknowledge, appreciate, and accept.
