Possibilities and probabilities
Fuck. why?
A non-inherent but probable and verifiable extension of increased possibilities are diminished probabilities. An increase in aggregate number necessarily dilutes likelihood of any given outcome. This is not a mathematical thesis I am proposing as this logic is flawed, but a societal one, where the flaws are mended by intuition. In a modernity where everything and anything is possible, achievement in and of itself is - I would argue - much more of a transient success now. We have paid a price of Inaccessibility for our possibilities of grandeur.
How can everything feel so unlikely given all that is possible now that has never been?
Perhaps it is only an issue of ambition. If one were to quell their acheivements relative to what is reasonably possible and not just of any possibility, then no such issue in likelihood would arise. My counter then, is what is it that you might call reasonably possible and is this reasonabilty a relative improvement on the front of our earlier generations? Maybe it is true, that we have made ourselved into too hollow shells of ambition. But what then is worth striving for within reason?
If the decision is between failure and insanity, I will graciously accept failure.
